Regarding Procurement
Kepler's CEO has a request for the Robotics Research team.
Mr. Martin:
I wanted to reach out to thank you for your recent evaluation of my team's quarterly performance. We were delighted to hear that you are satisfied with the Calamity Project's portfolio thus far! Rest assured, the generous bonuses you approved for the team have inspired us, and we will be working harder than ever to make the Project an investment that exceeds your expectations. From the bottom of our hearts: thank you.
Regrettably, I must inform you that your request for more Calamity assets is impossible.
This is not a message I relay lightly, and I truly wish we could fulfill your wishes. Believe me, we have tried! However, the exacting production requirements for even one more asset are simply not achievable. We, as a company, no longer possess certain resources that were used in the original asset's creation. They were not lost; they were completely depleted. Though our team, and others, have looked for suitable replacements and/or sources to replenish our stock, we have had little to no success. It took a not-insignificant number of years to find and gather even the initial resources, and what we did find was so limited that many of us posit they are no longer attainable.
In addition, the exact design used in the Calamity Project's creation died with a former Kepler employee. The roboticist who was hired at the Project's inception encrypted her documentation with a surprising level of complexity, and we have, thus far, been unable to decipher it.
In short: even if you did provide us the funding for another asset, we would not be able to deliver at this time.
I am truly sorry that I have to be the one to deliver this news. Your procurement request seemed quite fervent, and it is the last wish of any of us that we disappoint you. However, I hope you understand.
Thank you again for the generous performance bonuses. My team will continue iterating on the Calamity Project, and we assure you that it is constantly improving. Your investment will not go to waste.
