Students Shocked by Graffiti

Students of Elgin Academy woke in shock yesterday to find the beloved school vandalized.

Students of Elgin Academy woke in shock yesterday to find the beloved school vandalized. The mural, which was boldly painted just outside the Principal Wellesley's office, depicted an alarming image of crow looming overtop of a bunny.

Classes were left in suspension while faculty investigated the issue. Thanks to the school's state-of-the-art securtity system, it didn't take long before the criminal was caught. The vandal turned out to be the class president, Melody Lovelock.

“It was SO obvious that Melody did it, even before she got caught,” Averil LaMarque mentioned. “I mean, everyone KNOWS Melody’s been skipping class. I hear she’s been hanging out with a bunch of vagrants in Black Market. And now she paints this atrocity on the wall? Who does she think she is? Mega ew!”

“She was completely shocked when Principal Wellesley called her into his office to chew her out.” said Melody’s lab partner, Stacy Bells. “You can't do something like that and not expect consequences!"

Since the incident, student and faculty responses have been divided. Some respect the bold act, while others believe Melody should fall in line.

“Her art’s not anything special,” said hall monitor Florence Pines. “ All she’s doing is making the rest of us look bad.”

“I kinda like it, actually.” Prefect Aurora Chambers admitted. “Melody is daring to do something new, something no one would ever expect of her.”

“We all know Melody to be a bright and optimistic student, but her art is so grim in contrast,” Ms Brookes noted. “Deep down, this must be how Melody really feels. I cannot condone vandalism, but she certainly has a talent for expression.”

For decades, the Lovelock family has been known for their elegance and intellect. A source close to the family, who wishes to remain anonymous, stated, “Melody’s vandalism has left an unmistakable mark on the Lovelock legacy. Prior to the incident, Melody was on track to become the fifth neurosurgeon in her family! Now, who knows what will happen to her!”

The source claimed that Melody has since been sent to a boarding school in the alps to continue these studies, but The Student Voice is unable to confirm this at time of publishing.
