After the Concert
Well. Keep it safe. Maybe someday we will need it. Or some day we will need to destroy it.
Aura: What’s that?
Kismet: What?
Aura: The thing you just hid behind your back?
Kismet: Nothing.
Aura: You know you can’t lie to me, right?
Kismet (coughs): Uhhhh... it’s ... well, my father gave it to me. Well. Left it for me when he disappeared.
Aura: -- Oh my goodness! That’s – I saw that once. In the vault. In the Tianxuan Society.
Kismet: Those old men?
Aura: Are you sure it was his to give?
Kismet: What were you doing in the vault of the Tianxuan Society?
Aura: They were trying to convince me to join them.
Kismet: I thought it was all weird old men who want to keep Lancers from hanging out with ordinary people.
Aura: Yeah, I thought it was weird, too. I wasn’t comfortable there. But still. Are you sure your father was allowed to take it?
Kismet: I trust my father more than those old men.
Aura: Do you even know what it can do?
Kismet: No. Do you?
Aura: No. They said it was very powerful. They didn’t want to tell me how. But I got the feeling they don’t actually know, either.
Kismet: Sometimes it tells me something it can do. When those Kepler Lancers came after me, it sent one of them ... away for a while.
Aura: I know a song about a thing like that. It contained a ... sort of a seed for a universe. Like, you could grow a new universe from it. But dormant. Waiting. Like a seed waiting for water, and warmth.
Kismet: It’s the only thing my father left me.
Aura: I know. Well. Keep it safe. Maybe someday we will need it. Or some day we will need to destroy it.
Kismet: You never know.
Aura: You never do.
