The Lancer Corps announced yesterday that they have signed a new combatant. She is Ning Fu, now also known by her Lancer codename of "Aura."
The Lancer Corps is responsible for investigating any Shards made accessible by new portals, and for evaluating them for glunite deposits and potential threats.
Like all her colleagues, Ms. Ning was transfused with glunite during the Smash-Up. When any of the Lancers is seriously hurt, rather than dying, they disintegrate into glunite. They can then reconstitute themselves using their memories. Scientists still do not know the exact mechanism by which the original transformation occurred, or how the reconstitution works on a molecular level.
Ms. Ning is already well known to Acme as a singer-songwriter and pipa player. Her latest album, Mistakes..., went platinum last year, and her Mistakes tour sold out concert venues across the Shards. She is currently on tour and will arrive at Acme next week. Ms. Ning will be assisting the Lancer Corps in dealing with some security threats between performances.
Lancer Cly Bradley (codename: Broker) said, "We're always happy when we can sign a new recruit, but a superstar like Aura ... I just hope she'll play us some sounds while we're waiting for action."
Ms. Ning is said to be close to the podcaster/Lancer Skylla Ula Manta, aka Sonar, who could not be reached for comment at the time of this writing.
