#A Helpful Guide from Nitro
Hello, howdy, and hi, all you starter cars! Er. Newcomers. New Lancers.
Welcome to the Lancer Association! Maybe you just became a Lancer, or maybe you're experienced already; whatever your case, living as a Lancer in Acme means you gotta follow the rules of the road. And if you're thinking, oh no, I don't have my license, I don't know how to drive, I'll just run everyone over—don’t worry, this guide is here to help you!
First off, congrats! Becoming a Lancer means you've survived high-risk exposure to glunite and successfully gained the ability to control it. You'll still get hurt, feel pain, break bones, and all that, but you don’t have to fear death anymore: as long as your self-awareness remains clear, glunite will rebuild your body. You're basically immortal! Although scientists have yet to fully understand the underlying principles of reconstitution, for Lancers, this ability is almost instinctual. And while some of you may feel the same as before, many more may now be discovering all sorts of abilities—like creating fire and electricity from glunite, entering mysterious subspaces, or even making decoys that look like themselves! Give it a try: you might have a unique superpower too!
Even though you're no longer an ordinary person, life as a Lancer is still subject to certain constraints. For example! If you don't regularly replenish your glunite energy stores, your body will gradually destabilize—and that's not fun! It's kinda like a new food source for you that takes precedence over everything else. You don't wanna starve yourself, do you? Of course not! Some even say that if a Lancer fails to absorb glunite for an extended period, they might go insane or even dissipate altogether… Ugh, so scary! I hope those are just rumors. But hey, don’t worry! Joining the Lancer Association gives you automatic access to basic living support so none of that ever happens!
But Nitro, you might say, I still don't even know what your association is! I've got your answer right here. The Lancer Association is the organization managing all Lancers in Acme. They record your information, provide you with a place to stay, and regularly supply glunite for your sustenance. Once you're in, you can stay with the Association as long as you want—they only require you not to use your abilities for destruction. So no road rage allowed! In fact, you can even find administrative work in the Association to keep boredom at bay. If that's your thing. There's, uh, other things you can do too.
For instance! If you believe you've got the chops for combat, you’re welcome to join the Lancer Corps, a sub-organization that accepts missions around Acme and operates in small squads. Sometimes these missions have opposing goals or employers, which means that conflict between squads happens a lot. My advice is: just fight! Have fun with it! If you’re going to fight anyway, you might as well go all out! It's not like you have to worry about death, right? As long as you remember who you are, glunite will rebuild your body. And I dunno about you, but I like racking up the rewards that come with completing missions.
Word to the wise, though: if something dangerous happens in Acme, members of the Lancer Corps are expected to be at the forefront to deal with it. This is normal. Lancer Corps members receive more sustenance glunite resources and thus bear responsibilities more akin to a “special forces” unit. It's worth the risks though! You get to travel to all sorts of Shards and meet all sorts of friends.
Anyway, that's a lot of talking from me and I think I got everything. I probably did. Maybe. I look forward to your joining the Lancer Association and/or Corps, new friends! If you have any questions or want me to craft some personalized gear for you, just come on by! Chug-Chug doesn't bite, promise.
